Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to the app DailyTalk: Learn Korean — called “DailyTalk KR” on your home screen and “デイリートーク韓国語会話” in Japanese (the “app”) — provided by Hare Studio, an individual developer in the Republic of Korea (“we”, “us”). By using the app, you agree to these Terms. The terms of the store you downloaded the app from (the Apple App Store or Google Play) also apply.
1. The service
The app helps adult learners practice everyday Korean conversation in short daily lessons: dialogues and key phrases with explanations in English or Japanese, exercises including speaking practice, Hangul basics, review, word practice, and a speed quiz with a leaderboard for each conversation lesson.
The app is free to download and use, and you can buy optional lesson packs in it (section 4). We may add, change or remove content and features to improve the app. We won’t start charging for content that is free in the app.
2. Your account
- When you first open the app, a guest account with a random ID is created automatically. You don’t need to give us your name or email address.
- You may link a Google account (Android and iOS) or an Apple account (iOS) to back up your learning history and restore it on another device. Keep access to that account secure; you are responsible for activity through it.
- Use only your own account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account → Delete account, or by email as described on Delete your account and data. Deletion is permanent: your server data and the learning history on your device cannot be recovered.
3. Speed quizzes and leaderboards
Speed quizzes are scored on our server. If your best score for a lesson is in the top 20, other users see it together with a nickname that the app generated for you; you can’t choose your own nickname. We may correct or remove scores that result from errors or cheating, and we may reset or change leaderboards when we change quizzes.
4. Purchases
You can buy optional lesson packs in the app. Each series — currently K-culture and Living in Korea — is sold as two products: Volume 1, and Volumes 2–5 together. Each volume has four lessons, and the first lesson of every volume is a free preview that you can try before you buy. The lessons that are free in the app stay free.
- Payment. You buy through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and the store processes the payment. We never receive your card number or other payment details.
- Price. The price, in your store’s currency, and what you get are shown on the pack’s page in the app and by the store before you pay.
- One-time purchase. Packs are not subscriptions: you pay once, and there is nothing to renew or cancel.
- No ads. If you have bought any pack, the app no longer shows ads (section 5).
- Restoring. Purchases belong to the store account you paid with (your Apple Account or Google account), not to your account in the app, and they are not part of the backup. On a new device or after reinstalling, sign in to the same store account, open a pack’s page and tap Restore purchases. A purchase made on Google Play can’t be moved to the App Store, or the other way around. Deleting your account in the app doesn’t affect your purchases.
- Refunds. Refunds follow the refund policy and procedures of the store you paid through — see Apple’s Request a refund (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play refund policies. We don’t take payments outside the stores, and any refund is made through the store. If something is wrong with a purchase, you can also contact us.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any right of withdrawal or refund that you have under the law of your country.
5. Advertising
The app shows ads from Google AdMob as banners at the bottom of lessons and speed quizzes and on results screens, and occasionally as a full-screen ad when you leave a finished lesson. Full-screen ads never interrupt learning. If you have bought any lesson pack, the app doesn’t show ads. Advertisers are responsible for their ads and for the products and services they offer. Tapping an ad opens the advertiser’s page outside the app. How advertising data is handled is explained in the Privacy Policy.
6. Content and intellectual property
All lesson content — Korean dialogues, phrases, explanations, illustrations and audio — is created specifically for the app. It does not quote TV dramas, films or song lyrics, and the dialogues don’t use the names of real singers, shows or brands. The Korean audio is synthesized speech.
The app and its content belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may use the content for your own personal, non-commercial learning. Without our written permission, you may not copy, publish, distribute or sell it, use it in other products or services, or use it to train AI models.
7. Rules of use
Please don’t:
- cheat on speed quizzes — for example with scripts, automation, modified apps or by exploiting bugs;
- interfere with or overload our servers, or try to access other users’ data;
- reverse engineer, modify or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it;
- use the app for anything unlawful.
If you break these rules, we may remove your scores or restrict your access to the online features.
8. Changes and interruptions
We may update the app, and we may suspend online features such as speed quizzes and backup temporarily for maintenance or because of problems outside our control. If we decide to end the service, we will announce it in advance in the app or on this website. Even if the service ends, lesson packs you have bought stay unlocked for as long as you can use the app.
9. Please note
- The app is a learning aid. We can’t promise any particular learning result.
- Speech recognition and text-to-speech use your device’s services, so their accuracy depends on your device, its settings and your surroundings.
- Lessons show everyday situations in Korea as of 2026, such as procedures at the airport or at a pharmacy. Rules, prices and procedures change, so check official sources before you rely on them.
- Lessons set in pharmacies and clinics are language practice, not medical advice. In an emergency, contact local emergency services.
- To the extent the law allows, the app is provided “as is”.
10. Liability
Except where we act intentionally or with gross negligence, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, such as the loss of learning records. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or the rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access to the online features if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms when the app or the law changes. We will post the new Terms on this page at least 7 days before they take effect — at least 30 days before for changes that are unfavorable to you — and announce unfavorable changes in the app where possible. If you continue to use the app after the changes take effect, the new Terms apply. If you don’t agree with them, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, including any right to bring a claim in your local courts. If a problem comes up, please contact us first — most issues can be solved by email.
