Delete your account and data
You can delete your account and all of its data on our server yourself in the app, or ask us by email without the app. This page also explains what remains afterwards, how to remove data from your device, and how to reset your advertising ID.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (immediate)
- Open DailyTalk KR and tap ⚙ (Settings) at the top right of the home screen.
- Under Account, tap Delete account.
- Confirm the deletion.
This works for guest accounts too and needs an internet connection. Your account and its server data are deleted right away; then the app erases the learning history on your device and returns to the start screen. On the Japanese screen, the steps are 設定 → アカウント → アカウントを削除.
Option 2 — Ask us by email (no app needed)
If you linked a Google or Apple account, email us from that account’s email address.
- To: bullgomhare@gmail.com — Subject: “DailyTalk KR account deletion request”
- If you used Apple’s “Hide My Email”, tell us the relay address shown for DailyTalk KR under Sign in with Apple in your Apple Account settings.
We delete your account and all of its server data within 7 days and reply by email when it’s done. We use your email only to find and delete your account. This doesn’t touch the learning history on your device — to remove it, delete the app or its data (see below).
What is deleted
| Data | Where it is stored |
|---|---|
| Account record: your random ID and, if you linked an account, your email address, name, profile photo URL and Google or Apple account ID | Firebase Authentication (Google) |
| Learning summary: nickname, level, streak and last sync time | Our database (Cloud Firestore, Seoul) |
| Backup: lessons completed, review schedule, word progress, saved expressions, streak, and Hangul progress and settings | Our database |
| Speed-quiz attempts and scores — leaderboards are recalculated, so your nickname disappears from them | Our database |
| Learning history | Your device — erased by the app when you delete in the app |
What remains, and for how long
| Data | Why it remains | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Copies in Google’s backup systems | Google erases deleted data on its own schedule | Up to about 180 days |
| Server logs (account ID, IP address, time of requests) | Security and troubleshooting | 30 days |
| IP addresses logged at sign-in | Abuse prevention by Firebase Authentication | A few weeks |
| Analytics events | They aren’t linked to your account, so we can’t pick them out | Up to 14 months |
| Crash reports | They aren’t linked to your account | 90 days |
| Advertising data held by Google | Google AdMob collects it under its own policies; we never receive it | Under Google’s retention policy — reset your advertising ID (below) |
| Our email exchange with you | Record of how we handled your request | Up to one year |
| App settings and downloaded audio on your device, such as the app language and sound settings | They aren’t part of your learning history | Until you delete the app or its data |
| Lesson packs you bought: the purchase in your Apple or Google store account, and the app’s record of your packs on your device | Purchases belong to your store account, not to your account in the app, so you keep them — use “Restore purchases” with the same store account on a new device | In the store account, under Apple’s or Google’s policies; on the device, until you delete the app or its data |
Remove data from your device
- Android: uninstall DailyTalk KR, or go to Settings → Apps → DailyTalk KR → Storage → Clear storage. Menu names vary by device.
- iPhone and iPad: delete the app — touch and hold the icon, then tap Remove App → Delete App. “Offload App” keeps your data, so choose Delete App.
Clearing the device alone doesn’t delete your account or server data. Delete your account first if you want both gone.
Reset your advertising ID and limit ad tracking
- Android: in Settings, open Ads (usually under Privacy or Google) and tap Delete advertising ID or Reset advertising ID.
- iPhone and iPad: go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and turn off DailyTalk KR, or turn off “Allow Apps to Request to Track”.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: change your consent choices from the privacy options in the app’s Settings.
Google AdMob data is collected and kept by Google, not by us, so we can’t delete it for you. These settings are how you control it.
If you only used a guest account
A guest account has no email address or name, so an email request can’t be matched to it. While the app is installed, use Option 1. If you have already deleted the app, your summary and speed-quiz records remain on our server under a random ID that no one can link to you, and deleting the app has already removed the learning history from your device.
Disconnect sign-in (optional)
You can also remove DailyTalk KR from the third-party connections in your Google Account’s security settings, or stop using Sign in with Apple for DailyTalk KR in your Apple Account settings.
